TRAPPED IN FREEDOM

I was commissioned by The Empire London to design a tee shirt based on their “Trapped in Freedom” massive neon sign. Plus, got to pop down the cool screen print studio and did a silly little and super fun photo shoot with East London’s most bad ass gangster.

For sale at The Empire London BigCartel shop!

Nostalgia

While tidying up my laptop I’ve came across some pictures and woods that I did for my MA Illustration final show that I’ve never showed.

I’m feeling some sweet nostalgia as I’ve worked on it for  more than one month day and night non stop to create my dream anatomy baby, was such a bliss to work on this project, brings out some really nice stressful memories.

POP SHOW!

My poster for the super cool People of Print show in Victoria Dalston on November the 17th! Exhibitions, live printing, live music, spoken word and a shop of prints, zines etc, too good to be missed!

SEPTEMBER THE 2ND – IF I WERE TO GIVE IT UP

I was asked along with 30 other cool illustrators to create an A1 handmade poster, inspired by a day in September.
So I got the 2nd and turned out I spent it thinking about how love sucks and how cool Slow Club is while jumping on my bed in my jammies singing their super awesome song “Giving Up on Love”. Just had to do something out of it.
“We’ve been over and over
This thing we call love
And I’ve been thinking about
What my friends would say
If I were to give it up
Cause I’ve been tired and hopeful
For far too long now
So I’m giving it up, giving up, giving up on love
Giving up on love”

I NEVER SLEEP

“I Never Sleep Cause Sleep Is The Cousin Of Death”

Afternoon hand painting fun with Mr Phomer for Colher Tour!

SHINY

Once again, found some more lost doodles in my pile of drawings. These are some acrylic experiences I did a few months ago for no reason, just pass time.

PENGUIN COMPETITION

A while back I entered the Penguin Design Award and although I didn’t won, I had some good time workin’ on it. It’s not what I usually do, but still had fun.

STICKIN’ LONDON

Finally got my sticky buddies printed out and setted to crash around

SOUTH SIDE EXPRESSIONS

I was asked by the girls behind South Side Expressions, which I’ve collaborated in an exhibition in the past, to design their logo. I did several options just for fun in which the blue big one ended up being chosen for their official one.

TOMS

One month ago I was commissioned to customize shoes for TOMS in Office shops around London so here’s a small part of the result. It was crazy the amount of shoes painted, I had loads of fun and got the most silly requests along with some other cool ones!

COLHER

Portuguse Illustration is the first publication of Colher which aims to boost portuguese illustration by showcasing the work of the most talented Portuguese illustrators and also non-portuguese who have had an academic or professional experience in Portugal. Confined to a special edition of 200 copies, this project stands out for its innovative printing technique, risography held by London’s oldest printing company specialised in this type of printing – Ditto Press. Apart from a texture of its own, risography also allows the use of special colours, and Colher chose a garish and captivating fluorescent orange that gives other brilliance to the illustrations. “

I’m so glad I was part of this awesome limited edition book! Wicked colors, textures and illustrations! Get yours while you can here!

TANKS MATE

“After the Utopia” exhibition was a success! The private view was packed, full of cool people, wicked artworks and booze. I really enjoyed making part of this. My piece was hand painted, acrylics and markers on rough paper in a approximately A1 size. My artwork is available here and you can check more pictures of the event in Plasticina’s facebook page.

FREEDOM DAY

On the 28th of April (this Thursday) me and some of the coolest young portuguese illustrators are showing up our views on our revolution and freedom day in Acquire Arts Gallery, Battersea/Brixton. Should be pretty awesome to say the least, as the selection of artists is just wicked. I heard there’s going to be some tasty Portuguese food, so make sure you won’t miss it! Curated by Plasticina London.

SER DESIGNER

I’m very proud to announce the launch of the book Ser Designer, written by one of the best teachers, Armando Vilas Boas, that I had ever had and also one of the persons that helped me the most in the pursuit of my dream to come to London to study. This book is definitely a must have in everyone’s library if one’s interested in the design matter and its practice in Portugal. I feel very honored in making part of it by having some of my past illustrations published in it.

It can be bought in IADE, Lisbon.

YO BROW

I’ve spent the last couple of months interning at Nobrow, it was a dream come true obviously, as I’ve always been the most affectioned fan of the magazine and all the sudden there I was.  From helping out painting the shop’s walls for Matt Cruickshank exhibition, to assisting Matthew Nicholson cutting and painting the giant cardboard figures displayed in Pick Me Up, screen-printing the dopest paper and tote bags in town and some other cool stuff, it was damn inspiring being everyday surrounded by the most awesome books and prints. It was a super amusing experience, the Nobrow family are the nicest persons around and super passionate about what they’re doing. Thank you guys, again, for everything!

MARIE CURIE

For some reason, perhaps because of my great fascination with medical issues, I’ve always been a huge fan of Marie Curie, her intriguing life and her accomplishments to the medical history. So when I was asked to do something for the 100th Anniversary of International Women’s Day Celebration, I instantly knew what important women I’d chose to portrait.

This piece was printed and exhibited a while a go (unfortunately I don’t have pictures) and will be turned into a booklet of postcards soon, and sold as a fundraiser to go to the Women’s Charities at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies). I love to do fundraisers, specially when it’s for a good cause.

ANUBIS

Seems like I’m finding forgotten old drawings lost in my paper piles everyday.. these have a few months now, I started drawing this character inspired by Anubis after my first visit to the British Museum. It was pretty cool to view the amazing Egyptian collection the museum has, I was literally blown away as it’s really one of those things that makes you speechless.

XOYO NIGHT

The past Friday the 4th I had a showcase of my work in the coolest club around, XOYO! I was asked by Le Scratch, the promoter, to place some of my past works in XOYO’s walls along with a few postcards I did that night. It was a super dope 90’s hip hop party, super funny and entertaining with some the most awesome performances I’ve seen in the past few months. I had some nice reviews regarding to my works, so I can only say good thing about it. There’s going to be another Le Scratch party really soon, so stay tunned, you surely can’t miss it!

BEES KNEES

I’ve done this piece a while ago now, just for fun. I was waiting to use it for something… but what the hell, it was already forgotten in my old pile of drawings getting dust. Before I forgot I’ve done it completly, I decided to share it.

Between writting my research paper for college, my internship in Nobrow, working on a couple of exhibitions, books and comissions, I’m not having much free time now (I’m not complaining at all). Today was the first day in a long time that I spent the whole day in Pj’s at home, I almost gone crazy. I guess I need pressure and stress to keep me going, I kinda like it. Just letting off steam.

Peace.

SouthSide Expressions Exhibition

Last Saturday I had an exhibition in The Horse Pub in Westminster, London, as part of a SouthSide Expressions event, the first one actually, which combined film, spoken word and visual arts. Here I’m showing you a bit of the making of and the actual works, lino cut prints,  that I created for the night. They were displayed together with some of my boyfriend’s, Phomer, awesome screeprints. It was a relly nice evening, the pub was super cozy and all the artists and performances were amazing, looking forward for the next one!
